A Study on the Adequate Drinking of Female Workers in Small and Medium-sized Workplaces


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out some hidden factors related to the moderate drinking of female workers and grasp heir relationship to drinking rate. As for the method of this study, the questionnaire was developed through the analysis of the recorded data obtained from the profound interview with some female workers who worked for a plastic company in seoul. This tool was used to collect the data for the research in the same company from Dec. 3 to
Dec. 4, 2001.. The collected data were analysed through SPSS package. The obtained results are as follows.
1. Two hidden factors proved to be involved in the moderate drinking of female workers and they were named ¢¥intimacy¢¥ and ¢¥drinking manners¢¥ respectively.
2. One of the two hidden factors, ¢¥intimacy¢¥ could explain 47% of the amount of drinking of female workers. The other hidden factor, ¢¥drinking manners¢¥ could explain 28% of their amount of drinking by itself and it could explain 58%, along with two more variables ¢¥educational background¢¥ and ¢¥perception of life quality¢¥.
These results are expected to be used as useful materials by health managers to guide female workers to ¢¥moderate drinking¢¥. However, to get more confidence, similar researches need to be conducted repeatedly by occupation and size.
